Thinking from the floor up
Your kitchen floor needs to be able to stand up to high levels of traffic, the occasional dropped plate or pan, and spillages from all manner of culinary creations. However, function doesn’t have to be at the expense of looks. With today’s modern materials, you can choose a floor that will last, in any shade, texture, design or pattern of your choice.
Open-plan kitchen and dining areas work well when designed as a cohesive space, so it’s important to consider how your new floor will blend with the rest of the house. Will you continue the flooring into the hall? This is a question that may impact your choice.
On average, 95% of the kitchens we install for our customers include a new floor. In fact, far from being an after-thought, flooring has an incredible ability to pull a design concept together. The selection of materials to choose from has never been better, from ceramic tiles and wood, to vinyl and flagstones. Whatever you select, we work closely with a team of experienced tradespeople to ensure the highest quality finish.
The key is durability
Keen to recommend products that have a proven track record, we are premier suppliers of Amtico flooring – the product of choice for hundreds of our customers.
This British-made brand is the unrivalled manufacturer of luxury vinyl tiles, created to deliver a warm, beautiful, quiet and forgiving surface, regardless of what you drop on it. With a huge range of designs available there’s something to suit every style and taste, and being abrasion resistant an Amtico floor will continue to look good well into the future. Customers who are set on real wood or stone are often amazed at the appearance of Amtico’s planks and tiles, which replicate natural materials.
The style options
The selection of different looks that can be achieved has never been wider. Here we delve into some of the popular designs from our flooring ‘look book’:
Patterned – if your cupboards and wall tiles are plain you can afford to be a little more adventurous with the flooring design. Why not opt for a patterned tile? From intricate designs to geometric shapes, your floor could be a real talking point. Amtico’s Décor Corona and Geo from its Signature Collection are created using individually cut and bevelled pieces for a Victorian-inspired marble look.
Natural – stone never goes out of fashion. However, real limestone or granite tiles can be pricey and need to be sealed in advance. Amtico offers an easy-care alternative that replicates natural tones and textures and can be laid in flagstone patterns for an authentic look.
Parquet – the chevron pattern of this flooring has seen a resurgence in popularity recently. Amtico offers the opportunity to create a unique laying pattern using planks of up to three different shades for a solution design specifically for your space.
Industrial – for those who prefer the cool grey hues of the industrial look, concrete or large luxury vinyl tiles work well. The simplicity of the floor design allows more creativity to be incorporated into the units and accessories.
Of course, the perfect kitchen floor requires a completely flat subfloor underneath, which is where our trusted partners come in. They ensure this part of the project runs as smoothly as every other aspect, so you can be assured the work is carried out with the same craftsmanship as our own fitters.
